Smart Justice Townhall: High School Harassment, Bullying, and Hate: How The Cultivative Coalition Is Fighting Back In The Chippewa Valley

We hear of the tragic outcomes for so many of our youth in high school. In Wisconsin, 17 year-old high schoolers are being charged as adults and locked in prisons. Student resource officers are charging students for scuffles in the classroom, beginning the school to prison pipeline process early. In Wisconsin, suicide is the second most common cause of death for teens following car accidents.

These outcomes indicate that there is a root problem that needs addressing. Join us for a discussion with the Cultivative Coalition to learn about four amazing young people who turned the racism, harassment, and discrimination they experienced in their high school, into a cause to help others currently in the same toxic environment. We will discuss possible start points to begin addressing this issue that is undermining the development of our nation’s future.
